I was lucky enough to have my previous plan expire literally 2 weeks before all of this began and got on a 12 month fixed at that point... however, it's with a small company so they might just end up busting . That said I've been with a bust company before and the company that took over honoured any fixed plans that were in place.

Thankfull we use **** all in terms of gas, like £40 a month and that's with a gas cooker (both hob and oven, and we cook frequently). If they really do go through the roof, will probably swap out for an all electric cooker, or at least an electric oven/gas hob combo, which would probably at least half our usage if not more.

Electricity also went up significantly between my last fixed term and this one though. Exaceerbated, I've realised, but us using a tonne more electricity during lockdowns 1 & 2 than normal so their estimates of our usage are way off. We had 3 desktop PC's running all day, plus my youngest was in a phase where playing in the shower was a guaranteed way to keep her amused and calm, so there were multiple days per week that she was in there for literally 2 - 3 hours (electric shower)
