The UK has been building entire villages on historic flood plains for centuries - it’s nice and flat, after all - and all I can say is… I’m rather glad that I don’t live in one. It’s not an “if they flood” at this point, it’s “when”, unless there is an absolutely gargantuan investment in flood defense research and engineering at some point soon.
Half of these estates and villages don’t even have adequate drainage for heavy rainfall, let alone defences against a river or estuary flooding.
