people need some basic perspective. Right now we need loads of oil and gas, we can deal with ethics in the longer term. We do need to become energy self sufficient, but that isn't going to happen over night

I doubt it considering that's a full SUV tank of diesel from fumes (20 miles left according to the little message) to the click, but I guess that was "Tesco prices" not motorway prices. However for reference, a month ago it topped out at around Ł77 if we let it run to empty... so almost Ł15 more for a full tank today.

It's only going to keep going up, though .

Prices never really go down once they've gone up. Maybe a little in this case, but there's no deal that's going to bring them back to where they were before. Any deal that's done will hopefully stabilise prices so that they don't keep going up, but I can't see them being under around 155/litre again. Ever. They'll just keep 'em up there and force people to get used to it.

yeah, the best we can hope for is that prices stabilise. Too many companies are making money from this and they wont give that up

This argument was being made last century, and well, if we'd committed to renewable energy independence, we most likely would be in a lot better position today.

i can't say if the government will take heed or not, because i certainly don't trust them, but i hope they do
