TBH, I'm not even sure of what I'm supposed to be convinced of?

The Rangers side of the Scottish "Old Firm" (Rangers/Celtic rivalry) is unquestionably and unfixably intertwined with British Nationalism (and thus Royalty) and sectarianism.

That's all really. It's barely a debate it's well established fact.

Can you explain what you mean by this?

In Scotland, largely, support of the monarchy goes hand-in-hand with being a Unionist and Independence hand-in-hand with rejecting the active monarchy. Technically, you could be a Unionist who wants to abolish the Monarchy, or pro-indy who wants to keep the monarchy active in both countries, but that's not usually the case. Rule of thumb is that Rangers/Protestant/Unionist/Royalty-supporting all goes hand in hand.

Some people will claim that the football fan base has nothing to do with sectarianism.

They're delusional or lying. No two ways about it. Just take a drive near Ibrox on a match day for "proof" (I don't recommend actually doing that, it's ****ing horrible).

Like I said, I'm sure not all Rangers fans are actively sectarian themselves. BUT they certainly don't care about the association with it or that their pals are. Willing to turn a blind eye.

To be clear I'm not even saying that the Celtic fan base is particularly better, sectarianism is a two-way street, but this thread is about Royalty tub-thumping and that only applies to Rangers.

Well it all sounds daft to me. I suppose it would be too much to suggest that football fans could support the Monarchy for reasons other than just being Ranger supporters?
