Yes glimmers of hope - why would he lie about who he does or doesn't miss? It's also a very confronting question, he reportedly has a very complicated relationship with his father. And the question is very specific. "Do you miss them?". Not "Do you wish the relationship was better?". It's not strange to not feel like you miss a strained relationship but that doesn't mean you don't wish it wasn't like that.
