Newer generation SSRI tend to have less side effects than older ones1st and 2nd generations or TRA and SSRI. Depends what she was put on. But could also just be because her mood picked up so she ate more.
There's been lots of clinical trials and research around SSRI and weight gain although often floored because people take them, tend to feel better and then put on weight because they're feeling better rather than it being a cause of the SSRI
