I don't think that's true but I think rapists would pretend to be transwomen if they were going to prison and saying so could get them housed with women....

Well I based that on conviction rates, to be fair. Transwomen are convicted of rape and other sexual assault more than other men, but as you say, they could be lying.

There's next to no way it was fully consensual. Being incarcerated gives people, especially women, limited capacity to consent. An intimidating male forced into their space wouldn't help the situation, they were probably terrified.
