Sounds like a good move tbh. There's no evidence that the use of puberty blockers is safe or reversible, so only giving them in conjunction with medical trials might at least lead to some answers.

A stronger emphasis on mental health is also a good idea. Finding out if they also have other mental disorders and treating them might alleviate their compulsion to "transition".

There were a lot of 'soft kids' at our school. I think I was one of them.

By soft I don't mean soft in the head, I mean we didn't like rough and tumble, fighting or football.

Back then this meant we were soft. But today it probably means you're the wrong gender. If you were born a boy, you 'should' be a girl. Which of course is nonsense.

In fact, a few years ago, I remember watching a documentary about kids going through transition. Some as young as 7 years old. This was America. Not the UK. One kid even said he didn't like (American) football which he thought made him female and not male.

So thank heavens this insane clinic has been shut down. Transition yes, but as an adult. Not a child.

Default Tavistock children's transgender clinic is to close down

How was it ever licenced to open in the first time ??

Also do we know if the youngsters were administered life changing drugs with or without their parent’s permission ??

Yeah I agree with this. I've never liked or been comfortable with the idea that kids who are still learning & growing can transition so young. It's actually disturbing.

Kids that age change their mind & their brains & bodies haven't even developed yet. Puberty blockers should BE ILLEGAL . And think of both the physical & mental affects this would have on a child so young .

I think once they reach 18 then they can do what they want .

Agreed. In a perfect world, there wouldn't be any medical intervention when it comes to "transitioning" for under-18s. But we don't live in a perfect world, so limiting the blockers to medical trials is probably the best we could hope for. At least that might lead to answers as to what damage they're doing.

I would raise that to 21, some 18 year olds can be very immature, after that it is their choice to do what they want

I think the blockers will definitely be causing damage & harm ,as the children are still developing & growing. I don't understand how people can support this.

I still think 18 ,but yeah there's alot of immaturity in 18 year olds but legally 18 especially here in the UK is officially an adult. But Even 21 year olds act immature & naive.
I'm sure most of us wouldn't act the same now as we did back in our late teens or even 20s .

meanwhile, we allow Adult gay men dressed in a sexualised character of a woman go to libraries and shcools to promote:

"Drag Queen Storytime is exactly what it sounds like, drag queens reading stories to
children in libraries. The aim is to capture the freedom of childhood and give children
positive, gender fluid and unabashedly queer role models in a world where people can
present as they wish, where dress up is real."

Default NHS will SHUT its controversial Tavistock transgender clinic for children

NHS will SHUT its controversial Tavistock transgender clinic for children after damning report warned it was 'not safe'

Damning review of Tavistock was conducted by paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass
She found it was not 'safe or viable' for clinic to carry out its services in long term
The expert also called for more research into the effects of puberty blockers

The NHS's controversial child transgender clinic will shut its doors after a damning report found it was 'not safe' for children.

The gender identity service at Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust will be replaced by regional centres at existing children's hospitals, which will provide more holistic care with 'strong links to mental health services'.

It comes in response to an ongoing review led by senior paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass, who warned the gender clinic was 'not a safe or viable long-term option'.

She found other mental health issues were 'overshadowed' in favour of gender identity issues when children were referred to Tavistock's Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS).

The clinic has been accused of rushing children onto puberty blocking drugs by former patients who feel they weren't challenged enough.

Dr Cass has called for 'rapid' research on the use of the drugs after she found 'insufficient evidence' on their benefits.

NHS England said it would set up two new centres run by specialist children's hospitals in London and the North West. They will take responsibility for all of Tavistock child trans patients and waiting lists with the aim to shut down the clinic by next spring.

The controversial clinic has treated at least 9,000 children for gender dysphoria since it opened in 1989.

Keira Bell, 25, (pictured outside the Royal Courts of Justice in 2020) launched a lawsuit against Tavistock - the NHS' only child gender clinic - which she said rushed her into taking drugs

It's not as good as it sounds - there's gonna be seven(?) other gender clinics opening throughout the country, as part of other paediatric services.

I just hope something as frivolous and nonsensical as gender doesn't leech money from the services, and that the would-be Tavistock money is being dispersed.

It'd be better to have zero NHS resources wasted on children's gender, as any ethical healthcare system wouldn't enable a child's medical "transition".

I mean it's good if they're moving away from the straight into affirmation type therapy. Of course this is all down to money, when i was looking for an article to post about this this popped up

https://gript.ie/1000-families-expec...ock-in-the-uk/

This is what we've been saying for years as well, that when these very young people grow up a bit and realise that they can't go fully back now, the NHS is going to get seriously sued
