I believe it to be true. I can't empathise with a rape victim because i haven't experienced it. I can sympathise and feel truly sorry for what they been through but I have no idea real understanding of how that would make you
feel
Doesn't mean I'm a bad person - but hand on heart I can't look at them and say "I know what you're going through" because I don't. I can say - "I'm sorry for what you are going through" - empathy / sympathy
