Rights, wrongs, morals, lefts aside etc. and looking at it purely pragmatically - it's basically impossible at this point to say that this statement - if flippant - isn't true. It's been demonstrated time and time again. I'm obviously not saying that everything should go Big White 80's Action Hero but I think the evidence is very strong that people are just not interested in ham-fisted forced representation, even those being represented. An awful lot of people will cheer and applaud for it when they see the trailers ... but they still won't actually watch it .

It's not really about diverse content either - it's also been very well demonstrated that when done right it can be very successful... but people aren't stupid, they know when they're looking at something genuine and diverse, and when they're looking at a DEI department's checkbox list .
