I don't actually have any particular issue with photo voting ID overall when it comes down to it - but there should have been a heavily advertised lead-in time of 5+ years and easy, free access to a valid form of photo ID first.

It does all feel like a bit of a return to the old "mandatory citizen ID card" stuff from years ago though, to be honest. WHich was scrapped, ironically, because the Tories didn't like it.

The BBC is projecting that if all of Britain had the chance to vote in local elections today - and had behaved in the same way as those who did - the share of the vote for each party would be as follows:

Conservative - 26%
Labour - 35%
Liberal Democrats - 20%
Others - 19%

The nine-point lead that Labour is projected to have over the Conservatives is the largest lead that the Labour party have recorded on our measure since losing power in 2010.

I just don't think it's relevant because of the dirtball smear tactics the Tories use in the run up to General Elections that they haven't rolled out for these. The only way that will have changed is if people have FINALLY gotten wise to it... but I just doubt it.

'Woke' stuff doesn't appear (or is very low down) in polls of people's lists of political concerns.

THIS would be an ideal result for me.

Cons well and truly out, every other Party in Westminster not wanting anything to do with the Cons.
( except perhaps the UN-Democratic Unionists).

This kind of result could mean a much better, more compassionate and a more consensus approach to governing.
I'd welcome and love this were it an election result.

Because the majority of people aren’t idiots and they know that ‘woke’ isn’t making their lives harder, isn’t putting their mortgages up, isn’t putting their hearing bills up, isn’t creating a food shortage, isn’t sending grocery bills through the roof, it’s just being used as a distraction by the people at the helm of all of these issues

There was some clever so & so on the telly saying that it wasn’t that impressive as they should be wiping the floor with the Tories the length and breadth of the country !

Two expelled left wing members of the Labour Party, expelled for being left wing, both won council seats as independents with big margins, one of them with 77%, just a forewarning for labour people that think Jezza hasn’t got a chance of keeping his seat in the general

Oh and ‘stop the boats’ seems to be a resounding failure as Labour take Dover, it’s a great day
