There is however some credence that Diana was the first to have affairs, which was suppressed by the media of the time to suit their narrative of the beautiful, perfect Princess. It was reported that her first affair was in 1983 with a man called Henry Herbert, the 17th Earl of Pembroke.
Julia Samuels, her friend, admitted Diana was having an affair with her protection officer, Barry Mannakee in 1985….and it is said there were others.
Then came James Hewitt, Will Carling and Oliver Hoare, all of which were carried out after Charles started his affair with Camilla.
I was a huge Diana fan and had so much sympathy for her, still do, but from all I have read, from friends of both couples, I’m inclined to believe the above.

I’ve never watched a single second of The Crown so I have no thoughts on it .

Ultimately it was Charles who ‘struck’ first so anything after that is irrelevant as he ‘changed’ the rules .
