Hmmmm I wonder, is the kid saying nothing at all happened, or is he saying its not true that he was 17 when it started? Lots of talk of "nothing illegal" happening and we know that some people think so long as you're 18 then there's no issue with things like getting banged by 60 year old married celebrities or buying/selling nudes online.

If he was 17 when it started, call the police. If it was his 18th birthday then let the kid get his money! Entrepreneurial king! Good for him!

the young person is an addict with a drug habit to fund. They haven't stopped being an addict, and he has a bloke willing to fund the habit. Why would they speak against that and destroy the good thing they are on. I bet he/she is seriously pissed at the mum for trying to stop it. The person is 20 years old, the mother has no rights.

That's more than likely the situation as it stands.

It's a completely separate issue that a bbc presenter was behaving in an inappropriate way

Yup, and it wasn't grooming in any way unless he explicity says the words "I was groomed" !!1

The Sun says it has evidence? bank statements are pretty concrete, unless he paid in cash up to age 18

At any rate he should be sacked for bringing the BBC into disrepute, and lets see if the kid really is an ex employee as suggested this morning by someone being interviewed by Kay Burley

parents say they have screenshots, bank statements and messages so that would be what they showed the Sun. The BBC suspended the person based on "new evidence"

SO there is plenty of evidence afoot it would appear

If the accusation that the photos were purchased and taken when the kid was seventeen, then it's a crime. But it's not a crime for letches to have ("consensual") sex with sixteen year olds.

They have already been to the police

Personally I don't blame them for pursueing this, 17/18, they are the ones picking up the pieces of an addict not the accused

The stepdad of a youngster at the heart of a sex picture scandal involving a BBC presenter claims police told the family they "couldn't do anything".

The family claim the young person, who is now 20, was communicating with a top Beeb star for three years. However, he says when they initially reported concerns to police officers, they said there was nothing they could do.

The revelation comes after The Sun claimed the big-name BBC host had allegedly paid over £35,000 to the youngster for explicit pictures. Their mother says this money was used to fund a crack habit.

Speaking to the newspaper, the stepdad claimed the family only contacted the BBC initially because they wanted to cash payments to stop. This they said would "save" their vulnerable addict child.

The stepdad said: "I told the BBC I had gone to the police in desperation but they couldn't do anything as they said it wasn't illegal. They knew all of this."

He also said the money did not stop, adding: "I don't even think they spoke to him."

On Monday, July 10, BBC bosses and the Metropolitan Police held a meeting to look at information about the exchange between the youngster and the star.

The Metropolitan Police has said it is assessing the information discussed at the meeting and further enquiries are taking place to establish whether there is evidence of a criminal offence having been committed.

I didn't say it was a crime - I'm not saying that there should be police involvement or that he should go to jail.

I'm also well aware that bookies are cess pits, there's a reason I studied & left . Unfortunately at the time, my own kid's food on the table came before the punter's kids.

I don't think the BBC presenter needed to ogle a young lad's cock in order to make a living . I mean maybe, but it seems quite unlikely!

Tell you one thing that doesn't add up - £35000 on crack over three years. People do crack specifically because it's a cheaper high.

I reckon it was probably regular ol' cocaine. Sometimes people think they're the same thing, maybe his parents are saying "crack" but it's not actually crack.

I mean it's certainly possible but a £12000-a-year crack habit is a HEAVY habit...

Given that there is no apparent legal jeopardy for any party, it is a bit odd. He isn't intending to sue anyone, so he is paying a lawyer for nothing.

The lawyers letter said the parent spoke rubbish. Thats a very legal term indeed

Also, it would have cost the kid at least 1k for the lawyer to send that letter, probably a lot more
