80's for nostalgia and just outright style (all decades have their style but I think at this point, enough time has passed and enough decades to say that 80's in the most defined and iconic).
BUT... 90's has so many "firsts" and so much development of the entertainment industry. Movies, TV, games, it was sort of a renaissance for things like visual effects and modern film-making techniques - look at films made in 1990 compared to something like The Matrix (99) or even Titanic, Independence Day, or even earlier with Terminator 2, Jurassic Park etc.
You won't find developmental "leaps" like that in the 80's, or the 2000's/2010's even until now.
In fact, I watched the first Iron Man (2008) recently and not only are the effects indistinguishable from something you'd see being released in 2023 ... ... some of them are
better.
