True but they were the underdogs who did a job on the arrogant Gunners who have regressed from being an entertaining team to a stale defensive side

it's not irrelevant. If they were playing well, they wouldnt be getting upset over a single dubious decision in the game, they would have romped it

That could also be said for Liverpool against Tottenham, but I think that we can all agree that Liverpool were harshly treated in that game.

The performance of a team being poor shouldn't be an excuse for a Referee to be a twat to said team.

Agree, but I'd rather concentrate on Arsenal's 0.5 xg for the game. That had nothing to do with the ref.

Five weeks ago, we had a perfectly good goal disallowed for LIverpool. Liverpool's response was a lengthy statement that called for more transparency and training for the officials. The press and public response was to laugh at the whinging scousers instead of realizing this was going to happen again. Arteta was one of those who dismissed the decisions against Liverpool. Yet now he's outraged.

Fair enough on Arteta's hypocrisy.

And tbh I do think that Arsenal have issues going forward, and I get that as an Arsenal supporter that you're understandably very concerned about that.

For me as a neutral to both teams, I was watching to see a fair game play out, which I feel didn't happen on Saturday, and I don't know if this makes you feel any better about the result, but was Newcastle any better than Arsenal during the match?

That's a lazy argument imo.

It doesn't matter how either team played, it matters that the Referee and VAR both heavily interfered with the outcome of the match.

I remember people using similar arguments at the Qatar World Cup when France beat England, saying that "England weren't very good" like that even matters when discussing Referees either being corrupt or highly incompetent.

With all due respect, Arsenal could've played like Birmingham City or Sheffield Wednesday, and it still doesn't change the fact that Newcastle had 12 men on the pitch today.
