Default Specsavers...

So today I went for an eye test. I now have a new prescription but instead of buying a new frame I opted to use my old frames as I really love them. Its cost me 40.00 to re-use my old frames that I have already paid for...how wrong is that????

I'm not too surprised as I imagine the lenses are quite expensive? But it does feel like it punishes you for reusing frames given most of their new ones are on a bogof deal

Wait, I'm not sure I understand. They charged you £40 on top of the cost of the lenses?

Last time I went to Specsavers for a eye test I told the lady that I occasionally see spots in front of my eyes

She said "have you seen a doctor?"

I said "no, just the spots"

There are a few sites online where you can send off your old frames and get them re-glazed with your new prescription and I'm sure you only pay for the new lenses

I think that is one.
I never buy my glasses at the opticians any more, just get my prescription and then buy them on line.

Loads cheaper

Yup…..if you use your old frames you pay 40.00 on top of the 130.00 for the lenses….I did say I have already paid for my frames but I guess they want you to buy new ones. I ended up paying an extra 50.00 and getting the same frame brand new.

That is really cheeky yes, I'm surprised at specsavers, they're usually good. Puts me off them now.

…it’s not really encouraging to a recycling society, is it…there should be a ‘reward’ for reusing, rather than choosing new…

the buy one get one free on frames is a giant con, because the majority of the cost is on the lens.

I tend to buy 1 pair from spec savers and then get another pair from glasses direct

It is harder with varifocal but you can get them. They tell you how to measure your face and a lot of the info they need are on your prescription.

I have only ever used them for single vision
