You’re implying that a black man was desperate to get a job because he stuck with the hotel, like that matters at all in the grand scheme of things. I’m sure you have a basic level of “racism is wrong” awareness but your mode of privilege makes you dismiss the extent of other people’s suffering, experiences and determination to prove racial discrimination that they have every right to prove. You might not see it yourself in yourself but it’s very obvious to anyone who’s more aware of the complexities of racism.

Too much assurance in white male privilege, conscious or unconscious, can block you from seeing the full truth and that’s a fact. You’re nowhere near as bad as LT (who deliberately baits and puts a racist narrative on everything involving people of colour) but you do make blunders. You might not be able to see it but that’s kinda the point. Always naively looking for a debate, at whatever cost, no-matter who you subconsciously trample on in the process. It’s very bad.

…this is t at all about interview performance…it’s about a name change that was implemented to a ‘more white sounding name’ which then gave him an interview opportunity with all other details exactly the same as his original application…/hence the discrimination lawsuit that he’s planning or has filed…

Read the whole book (including the part where Anyika has to re-apply to jobs with a white-sounding name when she’s living in London, and lo-and-behold gets the job, but doesn’t when using her real name) and then we can talk. I have the latest Tommy Robinson book to read and then I have the new one from Paul Golding (The Battle for Britain) so I'm pretty backed up with books at mo, but thanks for the recommendation

Being serious though, I'm glad that he went for the job under a different name, as it proves his case that he was being discriminated against, rather than claiming it with no evidence.

I just hate the term white privilege, it's a me thing more than anything else.

I get what you're saying though, and it is clear that Dwight was ticking someone off at this Hotel because of his name.

So personally I'm glad that he pursued the case.
