It's not smart to label anyone you're trying to negotiate with as terrorists, and any weirdo with a few ridges on their grey matter understands this fact. He used the language of friendship in Parliament 15 years ago, to encourage peace talks, and has since said that he regrets it. I personally don't think he should have retracted it, but we are in a weirdo country.
