Society in the West is getting more puritanical by the minute (and that's both sides of the Political spectrum) it's tragic to see tbh.
No time period is perfect, but there is without a shadow of a doubt no contest that 1996-2013 (I'll say) were much better for entertainment and just being more uplifting as a society. Today people are scared of doing anything interesting because it might lose them their livelihood due to a few psychos on the Internet being offended by that individual's behaviour, and then call that person's boss to get them fired. We're in disgusting times and I'm not even joking, I keep waiting for it to get better, but people are either too blinded to see it or are too scared to point it out, we have many issues in our current times that were not here back in 2013. If you want me to list all of the problems and bore you all to death then I will, but I like to think that a lot of people on here will know what I'm talking about. And no, my biggest issue with today's society and entertainment is not minority groups getting major opportunities in employment, because whilst I find some of it performative from some of the businesses, I honestly don't hold a grudge with someone earning a living. I personally want people to have fun again, I would like to be able to have proper fun again, no bars hold type of fun without being potentially ruined irl over it. I mean some people are so phony today that you can't tell how they really feel about anyone or anything. Basically Stephen King's Books never stood a chance in this horribly mechanical world that we're in right now, and I'm not even a big fan of his stuff.
