The same is true of the UK, net migration is "only" somewhere around 500k (immigration at over 1 million).
SOme real irony here - the main reason a higher proportion migrate out of Germany (et al) compared to the UK is because they can, due to open borders within the EU. Brexit inadvertently actually "traps" migrants in the UK once they're here... because of all the red tape involved in leaving.
