Neem: ever been to Ireland, Kate?

Kate : No, no. I'd love to go.

Neem : It amazes me when people say that and it's only 49 quid on a plane.

Kate : Yeah, I think that's what puts me off.

It's gotten really silly now. I can't believe I've repeatedly had to apologise and explain myself over an innocent mistake? Ridiculous.

Benjamin explained it to me properly and respectfully, so I know now. There's no need to be sworn at. Smh.

Imagine getting to your age and not knowing the history between Ireland and Britain. Ben isn't Irish, he wouldn't have found it offensive, would he?

But I'm not particularly interested in History Niamh? It's not my thing. We can't all know and be aware of everything?

I do understand that is must be frustrating for you as Ireland is your country when people say its part of the UK, or imply it.

I've said my piece. I'm sorry. We learn.

And later you'll be treating yourself to Welsh rarebit and sipping Scottish whisky?

In Ireland, I would go to Cork, Killarney, Dingle, Kinsale, Galway, and avoid Dublin like the plague

Entering this thread thinking it would be full of lovely travel tips

It is worth reading up on the history tbf Kate, it's the reason that a lot of Irish people get tired of people conflating them with the UK

Yes, that's fair. I get it, I do. I don't like being at odds with Niamh, I think an awful lot of her, she's a lovely girl. X

I love Cork. I really want to do 2/3 week road trip around Southern Ireland one summer. It’s on my list along with NC 500 in Scotland.

You don't need a passport and an intimate body search to do the NC500

I actually don't think I've travelled round Britain enough in general, there's so many beautiful areas particularly in Scotland. The whole north is quite a blind spot for me apart from Northumberland as my Gran lives there.

Also on another geographic point - the Isle of Man is very charming and is a Crown Dependency but is not part of the UK but you do not need a passport. Simples
