I’m preferring this series and it does feel more old-school. I think this is a more interesting and authentic group of housemates, whereas too many last year to me seemed to be playing up to certain roles, so I didn’t find them so genuine. Although I have preferences, I’m not finding anyone totally unlikeable this year.
One of my biggest wishes is for the Live Feed to go back to how it used to be, without all the unnecessary censorship. It used to be great for revealing the full characteristics of the housemates and the true dynamics within the house. I still have vivid memories of drama unfolding on LF, and unfiltered housemates saying exactly what they wanted to, exactly how they wanted to! And I’ll never forget staying up half the night watching the conflict unfold between Pete Burns, Michael Barrymore, George Galloway and Jodie Marsh in Series 4 of the Celebrity series!! (RIP Pete Burns - how I miss your caustic comments and wit!)
Surely, they could choose to allow the action to play out with a slight delay and with a warning in place about possibly offensive content? And, surely, we are all adult enough to decide for ourselves whether, with that warning in place, we choose to watch? Everything is far too censored these days, when we are all fully aware of the prejudices and offensive behaviour of people in the real world? We don’t live a sheltered existence, after all.
