I don't get how anyone supports radical views like that tbh.

I have to wonder how a 38 year old thinks like a Twitter user.

The same way that some born in the last 40 years share the same views as crusty old men with questionable views on women, gay people and immigrants.

That's also odd tbf.

Being fair to Ali though, nobody is beating Jim Davidson out of the BB winners for questionable character.

That really was a case of people taking their Politics too far imo.

I better refrain from posting. I wasn't born in the last 40 years but now I'm seen as a crusty. You can stilll be open minded. I get your point though.

Hahaha noooo! I worded that badly. Firstly I don't mean anyone over 40 is crusty and old (I am almost 36 and my husband is early 40s!) but those born in the last 40ish years tend to have more accepting and progressive views than those in their 70s for example, yet you'll still find a 25 year old with antiquated, closed-minded views similar to that of the generation that think women belong int he kitchen and gay marriage is gross.

To be honest aside from defending Palestine and supporting the rights of trans people, I don't see how Ali has been that political and I wouldn't say either of those views are particularly radical

I get that. Especially in a political type of situation. And everyone has different views I'm not berating you for your comments. I understand your perspective. I still have progressive views which come from learning. It's about knowledge and the way you use it. Someone once tried to tell me intelligence and knowledge were the same things. I disagreed. Knowledge is one thing but the way you use knowledge makes a difference.

I agree though, because we're not all quite the same. Sometimes I have to talk to others who are quite elderly and stuck in their mindset. Whilst other younger people are too.

…I don’t think it’s an age thing so much as an environment/life experience, type thing…there are so many layers and factors to an individual thought process and so many varied influences…some world’s are very closed and small, through no fault of someone…and some world’s are very open and filled with many perspectives of others because of circumstance…it’s just …yeah, very layered with experiences and also how someone processes things in their thoughts…

…it was a good conversation, I was following it’s the type of interaction that does spark thoughts, so I blundered in with mine but I’m blaming you both for that……I know that it sounds obvious but it’s just so great to see these thoughts being exchanged because social media world has created quite a bit of…’team this or team that’…and everyone has to pick a side and it all can become very tribal and divisive, you know…whatever year/decade/era we were born in, good and interesting conversation remains…good and interesting and lovely to read on the forum……it’s pretty timeless and eternal for me…

I'm thinking more on her irrational treatment towards Marcello and Khaled for most of the series because they were seen by Ali as the leader of a "boys club" because how dare guys get along with each other.

And didn't Ali wear a Watermelon top that caused a lot of controversy for allegedly being Anti-Semitic? Tbh I have no clue on if it is or isn't, but I know that some people were upset with her over it.

The Trans issue admittedly she seems to be reasonable tbf.

Because for the most part I have no issue with the Trans community personally anyway.

And I just remembered she has used toxic masculinity and mansplaining, words that mostly Twitter people love.

I personally don't think she was irrational with Marcello, but that's just my opinion. I think Marcello has time and time again displayed misogynistic behaviour and language and calling someone out on that is fair game Marcello has constantly criticised Ali for making him feeling uncomfortable because she's said some things he has said has made her feel uncomfortable.

For me, that is the biggest 'red flag' he has exhibited because it shows an entitlement and someone thinking they can say and do anything they want. Pair that with him choosing BP for eviction because she picked Nathan and not him, and it further reinforces that message. Those kinds of behaviours are displayed by the type of men who get personally offended and vengeful when a woman spurs them and that is a display of toxic masculinity.

I get what you're saying about the terms being Twitter friendly, but I am not on Twitter and I have spoken about Toxic Masculinity. My best friend has never had any social media in her lifetime and she has used both of those terms too.

I personally hate the term and idea of 'mansplaining' because I do think women can be just as guilty of patronising men as men are to women, and I think the term patronising is enough because I just don't believe it's a gendered issue.

As for the T-shirt... Ali has been accused of being both a Zionist and Anti-Semitic which is literally impossible.

Me neither? I feel like people are just viewing her as having been political because of her…existence as a queer, neurodivergent woman and feminist. Lots of us exist, you know! (I’m one of them). Outside of that, we’ve just seen that she supports trans rights and Palestinian freedom based on her t-shirts. Pretty normal stuff.

There are a lot of people on this site that act like they’re auditioning for a presenting gig on GB News to be honest.

So the T-shirt is a nothing burger from people that don't like her? That does make sense tbf as some of her detractors do take it too far for me sometimes.

And the Ali and Marcello stuff I feel is a bit mixed in all honesty.

I feel like she is out to nitpick at any sexual joke that Marcello makes, which imo isn't very nice from Ali because she is making someone feel uncomfortable from expressing their sense of humour in the house, which we all have to put up with that to some degree in society as it is, so I do feel that everyone (including Ali) should be allowed to express jokes in the house that might be deemed "controversial."

But in fairness to Ali, I do think that Marcello can sometimes (especially earlier in the series) skirt the line of what I personally find acceptable from someone.

And for me with mansplaining I hate how some women will use it because they don't like the guy answering them back, I have seen that happen quite a few times on Twitter, and nearly makes me get involved in the argument every single time as I just despise that word. And I know that sounded borderline Incel there for a second, but I swear that I don't hate women.

And when it comes to the Rosie stuff, I would say that Marcello is being silly.

I'll be honest.

I'm definitely judging her on what I feel to be extreme feminist views.

By that argument, I could say most of his votes to evict came from heterosexual men who were jealous of him. It has as much depth and meaning.
