You're right about not knowing what people have going on in their lives. There's this unfriendly bad mannered guy who works in my local Morrisons. Recently I thought maybe his wife or daughter is ill in hospital. You never know.

Yeah my brother in law has a simple outlook on folk .. he says if someone fails to thank you for holding a door open for them or is unusually rude to you .. they may have just had an almighty row with someone or been told off unfairly by their boss or possibly have a poorly baby at home / in hospital
