Tbf, some guys might joke about it to try and defuse an argument that might be getting tense.

You think that's going to diffuse the argument?

I would be fuming. Men can go around angry all the time but a woman must be hormonal for the privilege of feeling an emotion.

Not sure why anyone would think someone making a patronising comment like that in the middle of an argument is going to diffuse anything. But yeah you're right, people tend to ignore stuff men do but when a woman does the same thing its pointed out as a female trait, like being too emotional

Some guys are idiots.

Obviously there are douchebags out there that are probably saying stuff about "women being on their periods" because they've received a bruised ego from the individual woman.

But there are guys that will make certain jokes towards women, not realizing that they're making things worse.

I like to think that I can personally tell the difference between the two types of men.

This discussion got me thinking, what would be the equivalent "joke" for men?
Blue balls? lol or some other function?

Small penis insecurity.

It's the go-to for women in an argument, just as women being on their period is the go-to for men.

Tonight’s EastEnders, Sonia: ‘I naturally don’t want me or this baby having anything to do with a freakishly deranged murderer who kept my sister chained hostage for months.’

Reiss: ‘It must be your trimester-three hormones speaking. You can’t mean that.’

This is exactly the kind of absurdity we’re talking about. No cap.

Yeah, okay, the average bloke who would make a comment like that isn’t on the run from the police and a bathtub but literally. Some men will blame hormones on a man not wanting to respect her basic boundaries. ‘You won’t let me grope you? Ouch. Must be that time of the month. Blood-clart on my dick, baby., still. Bloodcla’t.’

That Reiss was actually a good poster-child for the absurdity of it all, him being such an absurd character in the first place. That’s one (albeit warped) positive I can take from his existence.

Hmmm I'm not 100% sure it's the equivalent because the implication with the period joke is that it's altering her mood but if a dude has a small peepee does that actually alter his mood? Hmmm

When shows are hyped everywhere but I find it difficult to get through the first season coughs breaking bad!!! I'll try again when I'm 90 and have nothing else to do

Some men would definitely not like that comment.

Personally I find it funny, but then I do have a warped sense of humour.

I'm talking about the guy's intentions might not always be with malice in a scenario like the period stuff.

Because it's very easy on the Internet to see a video or hear a story that is really out of pocket, and just think the worst intentions of the individual that's made the bad comment.

Personally I always think the intention of someone's behaviour is really important.

For example to use what you and Ithinkiloveyoutoo were talking about, was the guy joking or was he "joking" but really just being a prick?

I personally agree with you and everyone that has replied to me on here.

But some guys do function in a way that I personally get shocked by, like some men will make jokes about being into criminal activity that I won't repeat on this thread.

So if some guys will make jokes about that stuff, then everything is on the table at that point unfortunately.

Great idea, Mock. Take the argument to a level where it would need a UN Resolution to de-escalate.

And another thing: cheating on the side of blokes being seen as a man’s prerogative and an intrinsic part of his nature but when a woman cheats (which probably really is less common than men cheating), it be like (to some), “you’ll never understand women”. The individuality of people becomes more apparent when you stop seeing one gender as just a sex object that can be condensed into contradictory stereotypes and hypocritical double-standards.

I’m not just saying this to bounce up about how anti-misogyny I am for a male. It’s legit. something that isn’t talked about enough. You’d never believe, with the way some blokes talk about women, that the last monarch in line for over half a century, most important figure in terms of aristocratic recognition, was a woman, or that Fanny-Jane Crosby was a woman who broke the record for most hymns written in the world (8,000+). Or that it was a black woman (Rosa Parks) who single-handedly stopped the segregation of the races on public transport. It’s all about what women being sexually to some borderline-incel with 2 GCSEs.

And let’s not normalise PMDD under the vague notion that some women just have heavier periods than others. If they cause you that much pain and distress, something’s not right.
