Episode 8 was great. Giving the back story to Harmony and why she is now so angry.

It just felt like the whole thing could've been a B-plot to one of the other episodes imo.

I'm talking about the information could've been given in say episode 5 or 6.

I honestly don't think that we needed an entire episode on Harmony hanging around random characters for most of the episode just to get one important piece of information.

That's just my personal opinion anyway.

they showed where harmony came from, They showed how the last generation of lumon workers were all addicted to ether. They showed how lumon uses the resources of a town and then moves on and forgets it. They showed how ether, the all purpose health remedy was the precursor to the whole severance project. It was about a lot more than Harmony

And I still think that all of that could've been condensed into a B-plot of another episode.

I honestly don't think that the material was strong enough on it's own to be it's own episode, with no B-plot from any other character in the Show.

I get that you see it differently to me, and I understand some of the points that you're making, but I still think that the quality of the episode was impacted by the material being very dragged out rather than condensed into a 10-15 minute segment.

Or make the episode longer than 37 minutes so that another (hopefully more interesting storyline) could play alongside Harmony's story.

I personally can understand why it is the lowest ranked episode of the Show's run on IMDB.

Mock, i think you just want to criticise the series for whatever reason you have. Maybe you don't view it the same way as others, nothing wrong with that, but trashing an episode for not being important, when i have just spent several posts explaining why it's important, is bordering on the insulting.

I'm enjoying the series, you obviously are not. Lets leave it at that

I don't dislike the Show, I do think that the second Season is weaker than the first Season, but I do still think that the Show is better than a lot of stuff out there.

It's not an agenda on my part, I do believe that the execution of the episode (which I have mentioned my opinion of the quality of the episode) could've been better.

And just because something in a story is important doesn't make it good or warranting an entire episode dedicated to it imo.

And I don't get how having a difference of opinion on the importance of an episode is insulting? With all due respect I think that you have gone and overreacted slightly to a Forum disagreement over a storyline in a TV Show.

The episode has been divisive, which ironically represents both sides of the debate that we've both been having on here.

But people disagreeing over a TV Show episode is natural, especially on a Forum where we tend to explain our POV more than we probably would irl as obviously we all don't know each other that personally.

But me having some negative opinions on Severance is not me "not enjoying the Show" it's me just having personal flaws with a Show that I do like.

I even have flaws with Battlestar Galactica's Reimagining series, and that Show is one of my favourite Shows of all time.

Basically we'll just have to agree to disagree on the quality of episode 8 of Severance.

Have to say I don't disagree with you Mock, while enjoying the episode and understanding that it was an important one, the pacing of it was off for a weekly-release series. I believe the run-time was also shorter than most episodes, and the lore/exposition while important wasn't enough to carry a full episode. I think it was a half-episode's worth or writing. However the issue is that in tone it would have felt jarring to have the focus shift mid-episode, or switch settings throughout, I understand why they didn't take that route also.

I actually think the issue here is it being weekly release - the episode would have been absolutely fine in a full-season drop show, or even as a "double release" or bonus episode alongside another full episode - buuut I also understand that this is a lore/discussion show and part of the appeal for many will be the wait and pondering between episodes.

(On a personal level that's less important for me, because when we "binge" shows, me and my wife tend to watch just one episode per day and thus have a full day, and a person at the same point in the show, for pondering and discussing theories for a day before the next ep)

Anyway that was a lot of text to say, I can see where you're both coming from. I think it was a good episode - but I think it was paced oddly and spread slightly thin for a weekly release schedule.

Interestingly Mock my criticism of Battlestar is similar - I love it start to finish, it's easily a top-tier space/sci-fi series on a level that most shows never reach, BUT there are a few points where it has serious "pacing" issues.

One thing is certain, everything is setup for a massive season finale, so that's likely to disappoint a lot of people

Season 4 in particular had a fair few issues starting to crop up on the programme imo.

I actually did enjoy the last ever episode controversially.

I always wonder if Galactica would've benefited from a 5th Season? To pace some of their storylines endings out better.

I understand where you're coming from with your first post as well, I just wanted to add that as I didn't really want to be ignorant to your points that you were making in the post.

Braced for an untimely "cliffhanger" and a 3-year wait for S3?
