It’s live and let live situation if you wanted work done and they could only come on a bank holiday would you put your life on hold?
It’s the same with having a family gathering would you not have one because you’re neighbours wouldn’t like it
There are no laws about having a family gathering, there are laws regarding building noise on Sundays and Bank holiday and you have to start and finish at set times on a Saturday, Mr C is always careful to stop any noisy work if he is doing a project, upsetting the neighbours is a big no no, especially if you have just arrived....

I know the laws
You only own what you own and what goes around comes around
Elderly neighbours would be more put out by a late night party than someone working in the garden

Im sure they would...but I just wonder how you would feel if you had invited family or friends around for a BBQ on a May Bank holiday only to have it ruined by a chainsaw and debris falling all over your BBQ, table and guests

It wouldn’t bother me unless you went round and told your neighbours what you had planned otherwise they are not mind readers

And again they have no loyalty to you
It’s like someone building an extension they don’t stop because the neighbours don’t like it

We work for multi millionaires and even those don’t get to say what their neighbours can and can’t do if it’s been given the green light through planning

Sorry but by LAW they have to stop at a certain time it doesn't matter how much money you have or don't have, no point in having laws if they are not adhered to, and you can call the police if they are causing a nuisance

Sorry but you are being silly if you think the police will come out because someone is having their garden tidied up

You can’t get any one out to a burglary

Do you actually think the law is working in this country?

Theresa may gets six armed officers assigned to guard her in three top of the range Volvos and she will have them for the rest of her life the same goes for all previous prime ministers

I dont think it is for me to let our neighbours know that we are having guests around for a BBQ in case they were thinking of using heavy machinery ....if anything it was their responsibility to inform us of the work they were having done on the Bank Holiday in case we had plans... I mean they knew how inconvenient and noisy it was going to be hence they piussed off for the day.. The weather has been so nice leading up to this BH weekend it would have been mindful that people may want to get the BBQ and entertain family and friends ...

I have no problem with work being done...long term or weekend mowing..the point was it being on the BH.

Clearly they don’t care what the neighbours think

Yes... completely thoughtless. People only seem to care about themselves these days and do not give a toss about others.
