I was late for for a class a few weeks back and left a tenner in the cash point, got back to my car and realised, ran back and a man very kindly had gone into the shop next door, and was with one of the shop owners on the street, when I ran up and grabbed it back off him...not literally but its lovely to know there are some honest people still out there.

If I find belongings I try and find out who it belongs to and return it or if it was found in a shop, hand it in.

I found a passport in a park once and searched for the girls social media and contacted her on that and returned it to her house. She was really rude about it.

I was going out for the day and said I would go round that evening to drop it off once I was back from my day out and she said “I want it returned immediately”

She didn’t even say thank you.
jeez you would think she would have been delighted, its alot of hassle to replace a passport, ignorant moo

Default What do you do if you find things?

About 10 years ago my wife saw an old bloke drop something as he crossed a busy road … she carefully navigated the speeding traffic to retrieve £100 in twenties .. the guy had just come from an ATM …

Anyways she caught up with him and handed the cash over explaining what had happened ..

The guy just snatched it from her grasp , cursed and walked off ….

I found an apple watch last week and I asked a local business owner to hold onto it in case the person who lost it came back looking for it.

I have had a situation today in reverse. We have temps who work for us and on Friday (when payroll hits the bank) one of my new temps rang and said she had not been paid. After a bit of investigation the temp had given is her sort code from one account and account number from another account. So her money had not been paid into any of her accounts. She was devastated as she had 54p in her bank account. I spoke with payroll and we did her a bank transfer to pay her her wages and said we would investigate. When we have had situation like this in the past, the money usually bounces around and then gets refunded. However, today I had a call from a guy in Newcastle who had tracked us down due to the reference and said he had had an amount of money paid into his account by us and obviously it was a mistake. He transferred it back immediately and my faith in humanity was restored as I feel that not many people would have been that honest after receiving hundreds of pounds of money for nothing

We are not sure how it even happened as the name of the account of the guy who received the money is nothing close to the name of the account who gave us the wrong details and so the bank are investigating.
