it seems the Jonathan Kent has a bigger role here even when Clark/Superman is a adult, more similar-ish like Eddie Jones's version of the character in the Adventures of Lois & Clark series, so Kevin Costner still holds that record of only 5 seconds as Jonathan in Man of Steel truly embarrassing of Costner how lacklustre he played that role

So his dog has super powers .. Superman having a dog is just about acceptable but anything more is just ridiculous and unnecessary imho
Just another example of film makers ruining a perfectly good idea … like 50’ high rock monsters helping Russell Crowe build the ark ( Noah) and giant baboons and sharks in the colosseum ( Gladiator 2)
