Don’t forget the tea-tree oil and sodium-bicarb., still. God knows there was some filth in that thread. It became a case-study in projection, misplaced hostility from random strangers who think they’re important enough in your life for you to be able to just know why they’ve decided to take a dislike to you in the last 2 years else you’s a dumbo (perfect example of what I mean when I say strangers outside even your virtual bubble can assume more familiarity with you than is appropriate, based on nothing other than bad-faith assumptions and zero substance), passive aggression, random jibes from the usual culprits, vague antagonism, triangulation, parasocial entitlement, unchecked homophobia and misogyny continuing to spill in, people ganging up on each-other for no tangible reason, the lot. People lacking the awareness to know how textbook-toxic they’re coming across as.

Dr Ramani would have a field-day (if not field-year) with what that thread unfortunately became. Throughout that, you’ve just got to keep reminding yourself that most of these people aren’t fighting you. They’re fighting something in their heads that they’ve projected onto you but that’s just imagination in any case, not the reality of who the more nuanced of us on here truly are. If it was tangible, they’d keep it moving and let that dislike evolve through time rather than mis-projecting the same old points from 4 years ago onto you, because they know they’ve got no tangible or live-time leverage against you. Just gotta let ’em stew, no-matter how many times they endlessly repeat the same retorts (“junkie,” “hypocrite,” “arrogant”). It has nothing to do with people as they truly are half the time. There’s no live leverage between a lot of people who have beef on this forum, so they keep reaching backwards, and that goes for people who pick on Kate as-well. But luckily projection isn’t reality. It’s just a glitch in their imagination, circling the same-old noise from 2021 as-if it were yesterday or still relevant.

Anyway, I think most of us owe Kate an apology for our part in that. I wasn’t the worst culprit but I know I do. That’s me holding my hands up and taking accountability for my part in it, which many people on that thread won’t do.

It can be argued that because it was a thread about the potential entertainment value of other members, which could also mean their cringe factor, then it would've required diligently dodging any number of landmines (a big ask)... so that's probably why it was deleted altogether, is what I'm thinking, to keep it from kicking off even more issues down the road.

That’s one way of looking at it but, honestly, landmines or no landmines, we’re all at-least rudimentary adults on this forum. You’re not gonna be everyone’s cup of tea and even if you are, you’re not going to be everyone’s idea of an ideal BB-candidate (which does involve a certain amount of positioning in some drama a good chunk of the time). That’s just a fact of life, and an actual fact, not a random, biased projection from a total stranger who thinks you should know why he’s decided not to like you, probably based on nothing more than misread tone or misperception, which has nothing to do with you in any case. Anyone who can’t accept that probably shouldn’t be on a BB forum, IMO. I just feel like it was ultimately toxicity from various people that really got that thread shut down. It’s always the same few who gang up without cause. If I do that, it’s for a tangible reason. I have an actual reason to dislike these people, so it’s not just random projection. Not in my case.

I think the likes of Ben and sheriff, both as bad as each-other these days, really have a lot to think about, and not just be reactively defensive about (a huge marker of immaturity). Since they’ve decided that they want to play it antagonistic for no discernible reason whatsoever besides some vague notion of me being some hypocritical addict (which is far from the truth). No matter how much they try and stick that crap on me, they’re wrong. It’s actually laughable how off-kilter these complete strangers are. It’s how playground-bullies operate. But somehow they’re proud of that, enough to revel in it, and yet it’s me who’s supposed to be the haughty, condescending one. Hypocrite much?

No. It was deleted purely because the only mod on line at the time was on holiday so she just deleted it straight off the bat. I'm quite peed off. I made the thread, there were no intentions of it being a cringeworthy attack potential minefield.

It should have been closed, cleaned at their convenience and reopened and punishments given. There's nobody on the ban list?

If we’re to believe the account of one of the main culprits (which I personally don’t), one of these people might not have even been infracted.

The expression “all at each-other’s throats.” Hate it.

Its a fairly accurate description though to be fair … when two people are arguing face to face , nose to nose …

I read somewhere that a good number of vape shops/stores are money laundering fronts

I agree and disagree with this. Don’t get me wrong it is annoying when businesses only let you pay by cash but on the flip side, businesses actually get charged for transactions made through card payments.

If it’s a Tesco then I couldn’t care, charge them all you want because they’re making money hand over fist (and during a cost of living crisis too) but for local businesses, especially ones which are probably struggling, as an inconvenience as it is I’m happy to look past it and pay cash.

My bin collection now being a Monday morning. The 'oh **** it's bin day tomorrow' hits different when you're knackered on a Sunday evening and about to go to bed. So much easier to forget about it on a Sunday with everything else going on. Also a nightmare when you're away for the weekend

Depends to honest. If they are a small business, cash is king. Debit card charges are killers to small businesses. A £1 payment can cost a small business around 30p if you pay by debit card when you factor in the bank charges.

Monday and Tuesday are the only days I’ve ever had to reckon with for bin-collection personally.

Ours is normally Friday which is perfect.. except hurricanes and storms mess up all our pickup. So usually Recycle gets picked up alongside our trash. It ends up a few days to a week or so later because they pull people from Recycle to put towards Normal Trash+Heavy Trash/storm debris and then we end up with months of waiting for the schedule to get back to normal again. It catches up for a few weeks and then another storm hits and we get messed up again. So the green bins (Recycle) live on the curb and kill everything underneath...

The schedule is still not normal. Recently they missed an entire month of Recycle and then came to pick it up (finally), but then broke our normal trashcan on the same day. So now even though we can pull in our Recycle after a few days, our trashcan has to be left upside down until they pick it up and replace. It's been almost a month since that happened. So we have to tip it back up on Fridays to put bags we've set aside (gross), because they're taking their time...

Sorry for the ramble. I really needed to talk trash apparently.

Edit: Fixed for readability

My biggest gripe of recent is that people can't seem to park in the center of a spot so I end up parking further back because I'm afraid that the other person won't be able to get into their vehicle if I park in such a way that I can get out of my vehicle.

I don't know if it's exactly because vehicles have gotten wider on average (also possible) or because people just care less about parking in the center. I think it's the latter because it seems to have degraded along with general driving conditions in the city... people seem to have forgotten just how much power is in their hands while they're out on the road...

Interesting

Our new Rav4 is noticeably longer and apparently wider also …. more expensive to insure ..

Maybe the family cars are getting smarter and more economical and the rest are getting bigger , more powerful ?

I agree and disagree with this. Don’t get me wrong it is annoying when businesses only let you pay by cash but on the flip side, businesses actually get charged for transactions made through card payments.

If it’s a Tesco then I couldn’t care, charge them all you want because they’re making money hand over fist (and during a cost of living crisis too) but for local businesses, especially ones which are probably struggling, as an inconvenience as it is I’m happy to look past it and pay cash.
Yeah, no, I get that; I do. It’s just a big inconvenience.
