And these are just national stories. There's been local incidents like attacks or threats against judges, etc. That's one reason I started the Local News thread because a lot of things are happening, but they just don't get the same traction media-wise.

…I mean, I’m not unrealistic enough to think that any gun laws/gun ownership will change but are we now looking at these type of events on university campuses with activists/speakers/media influencers etc having to take place in bulletproof cubes/behind screens to be able to ensure their safety…that isn’t a realistic thing either…

The murder of Charlie Kirk is a tragedy, and a sign of the utter desperation and cowardice of those who could not defeat him in argument. Turning this into a left v right issue is so easy to do but the truth is, extremes of both political scales act terribly during times like this. To suggest this gross behaviour only comes from the left is disingenuous because it’s based in falsehood.

This is a man who said if his daughter was to get pregnant as a child from the product of rape he would make her carry the baby to term. To suggest he didn’t hold extremist views is wrong.

Having said all that, nobody deserves to be killed while doing their job, even if that involves spouting outlandish views that many find awful.

He once said empathy is a weakness, so I shan’t hold out any for him, but I will for his family: his wife and most of all his children.

It’s a horrendous thing to happen and is a further example of why gun control is so important.

Political violence is wrong no matter which side of the aisle it comes from, however the pearl clutching and the faux moral outrage at people not being sympathetic that someone who’s made a career from stoking division and hatred of minorities, fighting to keep allowing children get killed in schools because he likes his guns too much, earning money from publicly celebrating a genocide taking the lives of endless children because he doesn’t like their skin colour or religion, he himself said that he doesn’t like empathy because it’s new age nonsense, he wasn’t a good person and he made a massive amount of money by grooming young people into believing his lies and turning them into horrible people too in the process.

The right constantly mock and joke when people on the left are killed or attacked, let’s not forget what happened when Nancy Pelosi’s husband was attacked by someone trying to kidnap her, the right were joyously celebrating and turning the story into Halloween costumes, they can’t pick and choose, either it’s fine to joke and not feel sympathy for someone you don’t like, or it’s not.

Should he have been murdered? No.
Does him being murdered suddenly earn him respect from people he’s made his targets his entire career? No
I feel sorry for his wife for losing her husband and his kids for losing their father, the video of his death will live on forever and that’s an appalling thing for his family to have to face.

He’s a victim of the climate he purposefully helped create for money and attention, an arsonist brought down by his own fire.

I wonder if that had actually happened that he would follow through, most of these people with extremely controversial views are more in the brigade of 'do as I say, not as I do' and I also agree with your point that both sides of the extreme are as bad as each other, that said it was just words, just his views, yes he had influence over some but that should never have ended in an assasination, I hope there wont be further tit for tat now
