If it's inside a private FB group, unless they're planning to do something outside of it, seems a bit silly to go based on posts inside of it trying to make it news.. do we now start reporting on all the weird things that get said privately. Where would that stop?
If it were posts of ex members with social commentary, then that might be the story (how noteworthy is the question), not a single random screenshot. I do have some personal experience with fancy rules especially with onboarding. Imo, these rules are meant to cull membership and have people self select out. Of recent, I was trying to post in a group for my daughters activities. It wasn't a political group but when joining you have to answer questions, usually just to confirm you are not a bot. On the questionnaire we had to look up a random book that was Antiracist propaganda and put that in. On another one of them I had to look up black inventions that were stolen, completely unrelated to the group. So I self-selected myself out, which is the actual point of these kinds of rules I think. If it sounds unnecessarily divisive then likely, yes... that's the point, I think.

…I didn’t know whether to put this in here or whether it’s a stand alone thread…is this what some females are going to have to do now, if some feel that a female doesn’t fit with their idea of femininity…it kind of leaves me speechless…
Macrons to provide evidence proving Brigitte is a woman, lawyer says… Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, plan to present "scientific evidence" in a US court to prove Mrs Macron is a woman. The French President and Mrs Macron have taken a defamation lawsuit against far-right activist Candace Owens, who made unsubstantiated claims Brigitte Macron was born male. Since 2024, the prominent conservative podcaster has shared a series of YouTube videos for her nearly five million subscribers, including a multi-part series called "Becoming Brigitte", claiming Mrs Macron was born male. In March of that year, Ms Owens tweeted she would "stake my entire personal reputation" to prove Mrs Macron "is in fact a man". Ms Owens, who previously hosted a show on the US conservative outlet The Daily Wire, also claimed there was a "trove of evidence and documentation" to prove Mrs Macron was born male. He said the French president and his wife feel offended and hurt that their identity and relationship are being scrutinised in what they say are false allegations about Mrs Macron. This prompted the Macrons to file a lawsuit against the conservative commentator in July, asking Ms Owens to stop making the claim. Now, they plan to provide scientific and photographic evidence in a court of law in Delaware to dismiss the claim and prove Mrs Macron is a woman. Their lawyer, Tom Clare, said in a BBC podcast that Mrs Macron has found the claims to be "incredibly upsetting" and distracting to the French president. Mr Clare spoke of the couple's importance on the world stage, but added, "they are also human beings". In the US, defamation against public figures requires plaintiffs to prove "actual malice", meaning the burden falls on the Macrons to produce evidence to show the defendant knowingly spread false information or acted with "reckless disregard". "It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself to put this type of proof forward," Mr Clare said to the BBC. He added Mrs Macron is willing to "subject herself in a very public way" to quash the false allegations. "If that unpleasantness and that discomfort that she has of opening herself up in that way is what it takes to set a record straight and stop this, she's 100% ready to meet that burden," the Macrons' lawyer said. Rumours about Mrs Macron being a transgender woman and born male began in 2021 after French bloggers Armandine Roy and Natacha Rey claimed in a YouTube video that she was actually a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux. https://uk.yahoo.com/news/macrons-ev...102600590.html |

Candace Owens is a fraud. It's amazing how her this part of her slate was wiped clean once she started playing for the right:
The Strange Tale of Social Autopsy, the Anti-Harassment Start-up That Descended Into Gamergate Trutherism (2016) https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2016...rutherism.html Quote:
Even with testing, people are still going to keep claiming that she is actually male. This still gets said about Michelle Obama. People used to accuse people like Wendy Williams of being a man during the 90s. There were frequently articles in US tabloids always entertaining the possibility or claiming to have exposed different celebrities for the same thing. I used to remember seeing those on the front page in grocery stores. They weren't sued I guess because it could be assumed publications like the National Enquirer were being entertaining for indulging a hoax. Except now anyone can break the news now, including the average sh**poster. So it's almost impossible to draw the same lines now as before.

…I mean, just the concept that a woman is having to give proof that she’s a woman is just horrendous and to add to that…?…the cause of that having to be proved to a court so publicly has been prompted by unfounded words from another woman…

Yes it's disgusting. This is what happens when people who aren't trans become obsessed with people who are, despite them making up approx 0.5-1% of the population.

We can sue anyone we want but defamation has a very high bar and one has to be able to prove the person knew it was false (we don't know everything about his murder yet...) AND that there was malicious intent or negligence in spreading false info. They have to be a public enough figure and that the defamation was enough to do lasting harm and damage. Talking crap wouldn't be enough. Conjecture or wondering outloud wouldn't be enough. There is a small bench trial that is needed to determine whether it qualifies to go to an actual trial and requires lawyers submit needed evidence. Usually a jury is needed, so that means going through selection. All this is very expensive. It is only worth it if the opponent is loaded and if that person has such overwhelming evidence that the behavior was systematic. People think very subjectively when it comes to the intents of others so it is easier to lose than not. Other people were saying Israel did it also so her defense can use that to say well that was a very normal thing to wonder sooo...

Only some. The majority are not on board with this group due to them promoting views gender is determined by biological sex, rather than an individual's identity.
Personally, this group is not for me.
