I loved this band "back in the day", and it's embarrassingly recent that I realised they probably wrote this song because they were sniggering at the idea of getting kids to innocent sing about "bell ends."

It makes me think of how my younger brother decided to call Father Christmas "The Ho Man", obviously because he says hohoho ...

... but "The Hoe Man" sounds just like something a mischievous teenager would get their younger sibling to say, so I tried to get him to stop saying that, which of course only egged him on!

And sometimes teenagers forget - our parents likely have similar senses of humour. So even though it didn't come from me, I got a mild rebuking, BUT our dad still encouraged him to tell our gran his new name for Saint Nick.

To this day I don't know if our Stately Home of a grandmother knows what a "hoe" actually is.

Isn't it funny how evocative music can be?

That entire memory unwrapped itself, like a present, when at work yesterday one of the children sang part of the "new Christmas song" that played while they were being dropped off.
