After watching the video it does look like the ICE agent killed the woman in cold blood.

But basically what I said was

ICE agents are so much worse that the police force. Egomaniac men who want to be seen. There’s literally ads on Twitter for people to join ICE and I feel like if someone sees an ad on social media to join a wack task force like ICE, then they shouldn’t be hired

Also, I don’t know what the hiring process is like but I doubt it’s as long as the training police officers get (which is also nowhere near long enough)

Waving it away with common sense after someone is dead is just lazy. If the answer to everything is they deserved it for panicking, then what are trained officers even for.

Exactly. The ICE task force has been sold as a way to "protect U.S citizens", not to intimidate them because they are fragile egos, surround their car, and shoot them in the face when said citizen panics and drives away.

They are supposed to be professionals and if they can't act in a way the training and the Department of Justice require them to then they shouldn't be doing the job. It's really that simple.

I still don't feel qualified to talk about this, it's a multi-faceted incident. The woman was clearly an experienced and effective agitator, but that doesn't mean she deserved to die. Similarly, ICE agents have to put up with these agitators day in and day out. It must be insufferable to face it on a daily basis and have to be masked up because agitators, and there are plenty of them, release their name, address and family details online. These protesters are not innocent flowers, not by a long chalk.

I guess the bottom line for me is, if you're going to harass, harangue and agitate, if you're going to chant 'Nazi!' at people doing their jobs (which is to remove illegal aliens from the country, people who have entered illegally) release their personal details online, put their families in danger, wear a stupid Hitler moustache to a demonstration... there comes a point when a tragedy is going to happen. The language used about ICE agents, both on this thread and in the world generally, appals me. And that's me done with this thread, because sometimes this place is not civilised and it's definitely not fun.

This is still doing the same moral gymnastics. Saying she did not deserve to die while listing reasons why her death was basically inevitable.

Agitator is just a convenient label. It does not reduce someone to a valid target. Being loud, offensive, provocative, or politically extreme is not a death sentence.

ICE being stressed or insulted is irrelevant. Lots of people deal with abuse at work. Teachers. Nurses. Retail staff. None of them get lethal force as an outlet.

And let us not pretend ICE is some flawless institution under siege. They have deported American citizens. That is a documented fact. People born in the US. Wrongfully detained. Wrongfully removed. Families torn apart because someone made a bad call and nobody checked.

So spare me the doing their jobs line. When your job includes errors that severe, scrutiny is not harassment. It is necessary.

Once you start arguing that language, protests, or mockery make death predictable, you are excusing violence by the state. You are saying escalation to killing is understandable. That is a dangerous position to sit in.

If your takeaway is that tragedy was bound to happen, maybe ask why armed agents with training and authority keep being the ones who cannot de escalate. That question is a lot more uncomfortable, which is probably why people avoid it.

He wasn't driving at ICE enforcement officers, he was having a peaceful debate but if you think he deserved it you are, of course, welcome & free to have that opinion.
