Foxx’s comment has sparked a separate controversy after an old interview clip resurfaced from the press tour for Django Unchained. In it, Foxx defends director Quentin Tarantino’s repeated use of the N-word in the script, saying Tarantino “uses it correctly” and suggesting the filmmaker understood “how to do this Black s**t.”

Remind me what channel the BAFTA's aired again ...that is all .
The BBC make no mistakes , imagine pre recording a big show like that ,and still not censoring it out . I have never trusted a thing the BBC does, this was deliberate to cause this uproar. This is the same establishment that did an. ' oopsie' Frank Spencer style and showed a Jimmy Savile puppet on tweenies, must have just been an oversight on their part ...yeah right . I bet even ITV would have the common sense to deal with this in a better way. The Brit awards use to have a delay ,and it would bleep out swearing in general I think. The BBC Sound Editor was in an outside Truck.
He edited out a Palestine thing But missed the N-Word The BBC must review their staff as they had 2 hours before it went out, Ref : Ch5 Live debate |

It's selective censoring to cut out " Free Palestine" ,but to then leave in the " N word" , the BBC must think viewer's are dumb . And they're enjoying the outrage it's causing now . Be interesting if they'd have censored it if he shouted " I have a bomb" or " King Charles is a cvnt" ,as those are other extreme words which can pop out uncontrollably in tourettes syndrome. |

I should stop reading because I've sent my algorithm into over drive now, but most of these people commenting clearly have no idea how his condition works. Saying things like "he must be racist because otherwise the N word wouldn't be in his vocabulary", sorry but EVERYONE knows the N word and it's history, that's exactly why someone with his condition would say it, like shouting he has a bomb in an airport etc. People saying "Oh funny how he happened to say the N word when it was black actors on stage" again, you clearly do not understand how this condition works....... People saying "why was he there?" Um because the disability that you witnessed in action was deemed worthy enough to make a whole movie about and the actor who played him won Best Actor for his portrayal of him

But that isn't the argument, why was one censored out whilst the other is kept in? . The BBC wanted this chaos and uproar. And they succeeded . I'm so glad I rarely watch BBC ,bunch of corrupt A holes .

Exactly. They could have edited it out and they could have explained the situation to the 2 black actors on stage straight afterwards instead they've left it in and left the actors confused and stoked the race war online. Keep us all fighting with each other

We know that tourettes is a condition that can't be controlled ,but it doesn't stop people still being upset by what they hear. So whilst we can understand it's a disability that he can't help , it doesn't excuse it and how it was handled. It reminds me of that Family guy episode, where Peter was barging through women's toilets and scaring them / harassing them ,and saying he's the " r word " ,as if that makes it ok .... like some excuse. We can still acknowledge something is wrong , we wouldn't tell kids it's ok . I've seen documentaries about tourettes, there was a bunch of young people all with tourettes ,and even they got offended by eachother's outbursts. A guy kept saying sexual inappropriate things about a girl ,and she understandably got upset and wanted to distance herself. Bear in mind they both had tourettes as well. Or a guy calling his own mother a "Wh0re" in another documentary, you can't tell me these things don't still have some effect? . She of course laughed it off . But it probably hurt her ,even though she said she knows he doesn't mean it . Last edited by GoldHeart; Today at 03:59 PM. |

Quand il pleut, il pleut

…it really is a sad situation all round and it would be nice to think that something like this could lead to discussions/debates etc but that rarely seems to be the way with social medias and other media’s …it always seems more to lean toward divisiveness of a right and are wrong/type thing….as was said a few evenings ago just after the airing, disabilities are ‘messy’ and complex and layered and I completely empathise with the impact of that slur, especially for the actors on stage at the time and I also empathise with John Davidson and the lack of social acceptance he’s had through his life because of his condition… those two things can and do-exist at the same time…it doesn’t have to be a choice, I think that many people will feel that way outside of social media/media nonsense …as a by the by, I don’t think that the movie has been realised yet in the US but I hope that when it is, a positive take from this would be that it may encourage more people to watch and to have an understanding of Tourette’s, it’s not a condition that is as well known as it should be, I think…

As you say people in the US who may never have even heard of the film might now watch it out of curiosity, hopefully anyway, maybe one plus side to all of this!

…it’s staggering when we think that an organisation like the BBC could successfully edit so much out and then ‘overlook’ this…and then to add to that by apologise for it and say that it was just overlooked…I mean, No….

. But I still think it's a bit patronising for people to be told " oh chill it's just tourettes" or " educate yourself", Michael B Jordan & Delroy Lindo still have a right to feel uncomfortable and upset, especially when they were never told beforehand that something like this could happen , whilst they're on stage . The impact is still there . And it sounds like their feelings are being tossed to the side. You can still have an understanding of a disability ,whilst still acknowledging the consequences. 2 things can still be correct...which seems to be getting misunderstood. |
