Crazy stuff really.
That is awful! Thankfully, times have changed and that way of thinking is no longer an issue! Previous generations do have a lot to answer for in their ignorance of these things.

My mum is from Italy, she was born near Florence and my Dad was born in Russia.
So yes, the Catholic Church was very present (and still today) in her education so it was tough for her. She really felt ashamed all these years but she learnt to get though this and is now proud to be a left handed woman.
As for me, a teacher once put me desk against the left wall, I complained because I couldn't write with the wall against my arm (obviously) and they mocked me about it. My dad made such a big scandal lmao

I go on hols to Calabria once in awhile and the Italian women are just heavenly - beautiful looking creatures. Never really went into detail with my father regarding the Christian Brothers abuse, but there was definitely beatings and I think they may have tied his right arm behind his back. Just horrendous treatment of vulnerable kids.

Left handed people have to hold their hands differently. We can't let our hand rub the paper like right handed people do otherwise the ink gets smudged across the page, so its kind of awkward. Thats why it looks rubbish

I'm left handed.
I hate how everything is made for right handed people... like scissors, the ring binders on the side of a notepad and stuff it does my head in lmao.

And my writing isn't that bad and i don't usually smudge it
