Don't be so brutally childish about it. Once again : If a similar movement was started whereby everybody would decide to buy a separate single, how far exactly do you think the campaign would have gotten?

Are people campaigning for world climate change all sheep following one another? Are people campaigning for the legalization of drugs all sheep following one another? Are we all sheep following what advertisers want us to buy? What producers want us to watch?

No, because this is life, and we all end up in somebody's circle somehow with views we agree with and products we want. This was a campaign to make a showing on the charts and everybody had a like minded view. The only way it possibly could have worked was if everybody agreed to buy the one single.

At the saME TIME, are people sheep for putting the xfactor single at #1? no.
this is the point, the whole campaign is ironic, because, its doing pretty much what the xfactor single does, no matter how you spin it. it being chosen by the people or what not? this is even worse because its a hand picked song from way back in the day, and is only gonna solidify the power of the xfactor. Because rATM would never in a million years, be #2, if it wasnt for the xfactor single. Double whammy, just like last year. Cant wait to see which song Xfactor gets to be #2 again, next year.

Your completely missing the point [again] though. Of course this song would not be #2 if it were not for the X-Factor. That's because it's a response to the X-Factor success.

How on earth is this movement the same as the X-Factor movement? The two don't even compare. Facebook movement versus TV empire? Yeah. Fair fucking fight. Just because two singles were picked and bought by two groups does not make them the same thing. That logic is beyond idiotic comparison.

All I see here is quiet a sizable group of people picking a twenty year old song, pushing it right up side by side in the charts next to the X-Factor, and saying 'Yo, Simon, fuck your chart monopoly, we don't like it and we have said something about it'.

Job well done, lads.

OK then! Great accomplishement. I am sure Simon is devastated!

ANd for some reason I thought the campaign was, stopping the xfactor getting the christmas #1?? I guess not anymore! NOW, apparently, its getting a song alongside the xfactor single. I see. My bad!

I don't think that was ever the intention. It was just about making a visible statement. And people made a visible statement. I really don't see the big problem, unless people thrive off being miserable cunts.

SOrry, thats not true. The campaign, was to stop the xfactor being #1. As illistrated by the thread titled below, and the facebook group. That was the campaign. NOw, youre setting lower goals as its becoming apparent that its a big fat fail. BUt fair enough, if thats the new campaign now.

The campaign was to attempt to stop the X-Factor from getting to number one. It was evidently a very tongue in cheek campaign as evident from the choice of song, deliberately aggressive, and the choice of campaign imagery, deliberately mocking.

It didn't get to #1 but I doubt very many people were expecting it to. Least of all me and most of the folks who joined the group. The fact that some people are still bored enough to want to piss down on it is slightly depressing.

Its a FAIL! I hate to use that expression, but it couldnt be more appropriate in this situation. The funny thing is, how some people cant accept it, and try to spin it in a totally different way. Please! They did think it was gonna reach #1, they wouldnt ve made it to #2 if it wasnt a real and hopeful attempt. Of course I am gonna say I told you so, laugh about it, just like I laughed when I first saw the campaign.

I'm sorry, but I can't take you seriously for a number of reasons.

1.
You used the word 'FAIL'.

2.
You are forgetting that I said myself numerous times a few weeks ago it would not reach #1, hence I am not going back on any word, really.

3. You are ignoring the fact that this campaign had to be called 'Stop the X-Factor from getting to #1'. Have you any idea how fucking daft it would have sounded if we had called it 'Let's get Rage to #2!'.

Dear fucking god why have I not given up here yet.

Simple, because you never give up on anything. You cant accept anything, and you have to always be right. if not, you will spin it differently. I wouldn't expect anything less from you to be honest. You are being true to yourself.
And regardless of what you say, or think, the majority of that campaign, didnt just do it for the giggles, or to see the song in the charts period. They wanted a #1, its was laughable, and its not gonna happen.

Give up on what? Accept what? I said before you did this would never reach #1?

Hello?

Anybody in?

There is a whole bunch of you on here and your all the same. Your willing to argue with me just like I am arguing with you no problem up until a certain point where the points I throw in get too much and all of a sudden I'm this monster just trying to shove my opinion down.

OK! My dissing this campaign, has nothing to do with you. Its nothing personal. I am dissing it in general. You are here, trying to make it sound like they were not expecting a #1. And I am telling you they were.
Read this thread on DS, where people are still saying, its not over yet, and tell me, they are not expecting a #1. And go read their posts on Facebook as well. What youre not accepting, is the fact, that its a failed campaign, weather you thought it wasnt gonna happen all along, thats not what the campaign was all about, and thats why I am saying you are trying to spin it, in a direction that it wasnt intended to be. But like I said, I am not surprised, not suprised by comments like "anybody in?" Its true to form.

This exactly.

Hoping. Not expecting. Most people on that Facebook group never, ever expected to get it to #1. It's just that simple. It made a huge statement regardless.

The numbers speak for themselves.

The thing is, they were always gonna be #2, because they are riding the Xfactor single as a reason to plug that song. SO it only solidifies the xfactor even more. The people who were gonna buy the xfaCTOR single, will still buy it, regardless of RATM. Thats where the irony is superb. Same thing happened last year, and if they do it next year, same thing will happen again. I wouldnt be surprised, if some savvy people use the opportunity to plug their own song next year, and makes loads of money in the process. Now we'll have 2 gulible groups of followers every year, instead of 1. I never buy any xfACTOR SINGLE cRRAP btw!
