Considering that a lot of people in today's society are homophobic, I think it is an issue.

As for Charlie, if he hadn't had said what he did in his audition VT, I wouldn't have known he was gay. I was relieved at the time because all the hot women had gone in and there were no good looking guys to pair them up. Then Charlie turned up, looked promising, and then he said he was gay.
