It's weird to think but I say Shayne would still have won. Lucky for Alex that she didn't get through that time.

I think she would've went out in the earlier weeks. We had Brenda that year who was really popular and Alexandra wasn't anything special back then. Plus it was still pre-Leona so it wasn't really about finding a genuine star but a short term pop star to last until the next series. Simon didn't really take the show seriously until Leona won.

Probably, because whilst I think Alex is better than Leona, there are a lot of people like her around and the industry wasn't exactly lacking, and Leona is something pretty different and rare to come across. Because of that Simon took it a bit more seriously after Leona won (thats when the 'wait until October to release an album' trend started), so if Alex did win she would've had a rushed album out full of Whitney covers, then back to obscurity for her.
