The message was- I'll rape the culture of many indigenous tribes of earth and mix it all up and put them in giant smurfs outfits, immersing them in some far off mystical land. Then I'll have a by-the-numbers plot that any 8 year old could come up with but that doesn't matter because, hey, they're the good guys and I have a really bad bad guy who wants to kill them - nobody will care about the idiotic plot cuz I'll be dazzling them with effects.
