Default Did you find the 'Tsunami' a bit of an anticlimax?

Admit it, we were all watching Sky News waiting to see a moment in history LIVE. What a let down when the sea levels risen by 3 feet.

It is kind of a good thing because peoples lives weren't destroyed. I was relieved, not disappointed.

Yes.

If people had known from the start that nothing major was going to happen, no one would have watched. People were only watching because they thought that the waves were going to be huge. There's no point in trying to deny it really. As much as it's a relief, that's the reason everyone was watching.

Agreed, I'm thankful it never materialized and caused unnecessary deaths and people left without family members and homes. I have family in Australia and i was so worried something would happen to them because it was supposed to hit Aus.

Of course, but you can't honestly tell me that you would have watched had you known that nothing was going to happen. The only reason people were watching was because they thought it was going to be severe, but it's not as if they were going to sit their and laugh though, was it?

I was watching because I wanted to know what was going on, but in no way was i disappointed or thought it was an Anti-Climax. I wasn't watching to see if there was going to be some massive catastrophe, I just wanted to know what was going on.
I personally couldn't be happier nothing happened, we are privileged to live in a country where stuff like this doesn't happen. But waking up one day and a wave taking away all your family and everything you live for... is not something someone else should watch and then get disappointed if it doesn't happen.

Not at all, relieved that no damage was caused and no lives lost. I was watching on CNN and it was obvious that the presenters were annoyed that nothing big happened :/ It was just interesting to learn the whole science to it, like the tell-signs.

I think people are only disappointed because they wasted their time watching what could have been a moment in history for nothing. No one's saying they're disappointed that thousands of people weren't killed, of course not, that's a relief, but the fact of the matter is, it was hyped up, and nothing happened. Not disappointing in terms of peoples lives, but disappointing in terms of a moment in history.

To compare, it's like 9/11. I'm not happy it happened, but I'm disappointed that I was too young to remember where I was at the time. Do you see what I mean?

You're completely missing the point- noone wanted to see death or destruction, but after all the hype people wanted to see something even if it was just a giant wave crashing into the side. It was meant to be a 3m wave at first- that would have caused almost no damage whatsoever to Hawaii- its a big mountain! Its not like the Boxing Day 2004 tsunami where many of the islands affected are at sea level.

Honolulu wouldn't have got the brunt of it because of where its positioned and the way the wave was travelling
