Electrophobe. Electronic music can be as deep, engrossing, powerful and emotional as any other form of music, it's just that it gives talentless morons the ability to come up with uncreative tracks really, really fast and easy. Utilized properly though and electronic music is amazing. A synth is capable of generating a new sound nobody has ever heard before. That's much more exciting than straightfoward rock tracks that bore me nowdays [and there are very, very few things happening in the conventional rock genres these days that would disprove the fact that it's in a severe state of stagnancy and has been for many years]. Good electronic bands have no two tracks that sound the same. In that respect it's a much more varied and much more open ended form of music than the basic package of guitars, drums and bass.

Also, about taste being subjective, true, but some people simply have not tasted enough. Plenty of the pop acolytes will grow into different music tastes as they get older. Mark my words.

Producing an electronic track is very difficult and time consuming and requires just as much creativity and knowledge. You take a look at any DAW, and you'll understand why.

Exactly. It can be incredibly tedious business. Cubase gave me nightmares for a good while. Thank god for Reason and Ableton.

Yeah that's the problem. See virtually anyone can start making electronic music on a computer on their own, and upload it online, so your getting a sea of junk.

I've just started on FL Studio 9. This program infuriates me at times.

The closest i've ever gotten to making music is Music 2000 for the PS1 I'd like to give it a try though.

Tough out to master but plenty of YouTube tutorials around.

FL gets dismissed as basic quiet a lot but it depends what VST's you are using. Get the right ones and you can make some brilliant sounding stuff on it. I find FL is best for more formulaic, structured tracks like Trance.

I'd have the patience for it once there's some kind of tutorials online for them and I can do it in my own time. Just saw what my cousin is doing with them over in the States and it's very impressive.

Not at all- most of my music is made up of albums from bands I've heard in clubs etc, and if I hear a song by a mainstream artist in the charts sometimes I'll see what their album is like

If its in my opinion is good.
EG. I happen to like loads of dance club music, and electro beats, along with RnB, Hip Hop, and a few Indie songs, so its quite varied.

Another example, I like Calvin Harris music as his music is very eletric and positive, but on the other hand some people may hate him.

There isn't really such a thing is good music taste IMO. It's like saying someone has a good taste in food, we all like different things.
