Not religious - there you go making wild assumptions again! But I respect his right to believe in what he wants without ridicule! I like him as a hm - I couldn't give a damn about his religious beliefs - stop using it as a stick to beat him with!

The suggestion that every cult deserves to just exist and not to be questioned...

no, sorry.

I am not anti religion, or anti freedom to believe, but there have been just far far too many destructive and exploitative cults in modern history to extend automatic respect to any of them.

I have looked at these 'New Ecstatics' and see just ex junkies using 'exciting' drug slang to attract disenfranchised and and vulnerable individuals into their grasp. It's clearly a transparent and calculated use of language to target a specific dynamic of easy manipulated teens and ex addicts.

We challenge and pose questions through ridicule, satire is part of our political heritage. Anyone that tries to shut that down is attempting to shut down our right to free speech.

He can believe what he wants, I won't fight his right to freedom of speech, but theres no way I have to respect it.

You are making a lot of assumptions there - implying he has ulterior motives and does not really believe! You don't know that! If such beliefs have helped him and others get off drugs and adopt a new way of life - good luck to them! It may just be a crutch, of course, but his intentions may well be genuine! You are implying that his motives are sinister - and I see no evidence of that! Nothing wrong in not making hasty judgements and giving the guy a chance!

No.

I am saying I hate the paraphenalia the New Ecstatics dress their faith up in. It is designed and chosen very precisely to target an obvious audience.

I am saying every cult deserves to be questioned honestly and fairly based on a recorded history of them ending up as exploitative and destructive organisations that prey on the vulnerable, especially one that uses certain terminology to appeal to a specific audience.

I am saying in trying to stop people 'ridiculing' him you are attempting to shut down their right to free speech.

I am saying they have absolutely no right to automatically extended 'respect'. They need to earn that by actually doing good for their community and showing us their intentions and motivations are decent and pure over time.

I hate their core message of 'don't think, don't question, do nothing, just get drunk'.

My doubt of him is just decreased by the videos I have seen by him... I see none of that man in the house, so which one of him is real? The BB version? The 'drunk' 'mystic'? Neither?
