The extremely ironic thing about letting him win to "make him feel good about himself" is that if/when he finds out they LET him win he will realise it wasn't because of any skill/ability he has that they admired him for, it was "just to be nice".

It was a mere sympathy vote and sympathy, is nothing more than psuedo acceptance. It's not real and it's not lasting. If they did that to Me and I found out I'd be absolutely furious.
