I think it is genuine for what it is... two people liking each other where emotions have escalated in the unique living situation of the Big Brother house.

To say - and this applies to anything that happens on the show - that something is fake, a gameplan or for airtime is kind of a simplistic analysis. The housemates are living their lives in there. It would take a monumental effort to contrive something like this. And house relationships always lead to unpopularity and eviction not the other way around.
