It is no coincidence that she showed such an interest in him from day one! She homed in on the only good-looking one and went for it with everything she had! Even the fact he didn't feel the same way - didn't deter her! She wanted the publicity, so conveniently ignored that - and reeled him in!
He isn't the most stable of characters and was an easy target! He likes her company, especially in such an enclosed, limited environment - and doesn't want to upset her - it has all played very conveniently into her hands!
