It's a natural assumption for him to make because he's knows he's not a radar dodger like the rest. But will he make the connection that he only got through because he was the least liked of the big characters?

Not really true, it just means that Sam, Corin & John James all had the biggest fan bases & they were busy voting each other out, thus taking away the biggest threat to their favourite winning... So the others were saved because no one cared about voting them out... Had it been a vote to SAVE, Sam, John James & Corin would still be there, possibly Steve too...
