It's like you are challenging them to do it. Which kinda defeats the purpose of the thread doesn't it?

Thing is the amount of point you give for different things are really incosistent. Do you have anything to go by or do you just give the amounts with your own judgements?

I actually miss the old forum, people didnt play up as much, with infractions they can get away with a LOT more, and my god don't people try testing the boundaries. With the old system they couldnt do that.
It was so much clearer. I think the biggest problem with this system is that it's just not clear enough for you guys to enforce it without the many complaints. I think you guys do a good job - in the main - but the system hampers you're ability to do it.

Certain things have set amounts, other have to be custom... though obviously depending on the severity of the post, the amount of points is altered.

No. Niamh first point in her post was that she was sure the comment was directed at her. If she felt that way she should have PM'd the forum member and kept that kind of comment it off the forum. Just my own personal view.

Im not sure whether Ive got infractions. I think they were just warnings, (or are they the same thing?), but I thoroughly deserved them
I have no problems with mods on here, can't really see what the fuss is about. If you broke the rules then you deserve punishment. Simples

Also, I dont see what the problem is with this, since this thread was sort of designed for this kind of thing. As long as insults are not thrown...from either side, there shouldn't be a problem.

Which is the same rule as in other threads...notice in serious debates, people argue all the time, but because they put their point across well, (usually) not resorting to petty name calling and that, the threads are fine. There are also a few threads in the BB sections that are full of 'arguing'...though I personally call intelligent arguing debating...that have not been deleted.

As long as it stays on topic, and no rules are broken, its perfectly fine

Yeah they are the same but they show up on your profile for x amount of time until they expire.

Every now and then we will need new moderators...when that happens usually thread is made asking you to apply.

We then look at all of the applications...take into account previous bans/warnings, and decide who we think is best suited for the job

Post used to be deleted but the discussion continued. That doesn't happen much these days. The threads are closed with little explanation leaving us infuriated.

Yes, well maybe it gets tiresome removing the same arguments from the same people over and over again. Only to know that it is going to start again the minute it is reopened.

I have even seen people keep copies of quotes of the last thing that was said before the lock, so that when it is opened again(after being closed) they could continue on the argument.

And personally I always give a reason when locking a thread, and often remove the arguments and then reopen it. Except when it is clear that the above will happen...

I have to admit that I'm a digispy longterm member. However, lately they are far too ready with their banning as soon as some trigger happy fan doesn't like their fave being slagged off.

One policy that I've always adhered to and actually like about Digispy, is not to slate another forum member. I've never went down that route at any time.

But as far as the housemates are concerned, then they are fair game to be called out for a slagging so long as it isn't derogatory, inflammatory of libelious.

I got banned for calling Josie an 'attention seeking *****'.....and her fans took offence to the '*****' part of that.

That's how stupid some people are....and also how strict Digispy are in tying themselves up somewhat within their own rules. Anyway, I disputed it and put my point across and my ban was reduced. But nevertheless, I really disagree that I should have been banned at all considering that I went on in that thread to try and explain the context of what that statement meant......i.e. the worst type of attention seeker, and not a ***** per se. To no avail of course.

But I digress. What I like about this forum is that it is more flexible in members being free to share more controversial opinions. However, I dislike the personal insults aimed at forum members.

i know i deserved an infraction for this but when i opened up a calmer thread about which housemates fans do you get on with best,i got banned but the other thread about the same thing was being rude about other fans of housemates and acting like a troll but they didnt get banned.

and then the mod said we warned you and you pushed your luck by then opening up the same thread.

1.it was on that thread anyway so no i didnt get warned.
2.do they think we all read the same threads?

I think you are pretty much on the money most of the time Vicky but you closed one thread tonight with the explanation that it was "disgusting and prejudiced". On the face of it, I didn't see this at all (I don't follow the OP's other posts so don't know if there was a hidden agenda) but I did see that the HM being ribbed was top of your sig list. I'm not saying you were wrong to close it, as the thread had no real value other than humour but I do feel that your decision wasn't entirely impartial.
This must be the toughest part of a mod's job on here, considering that to bother being here in the first place you have to be a BB enthusiast but to close thread that conflicts with a vested interest doesn't look good.
Which brings up another point. Do the mods on here all support the same type of HM or are they spread over the spectrum? I've not really paid much attention to it but from what I have noticed they tend to go for similar types. I mean how many mods on here were Ben, Mario, Dave types?

Who a mod supports makes not the slightest bit of difference when it comes to actually modding. But, not that it matters, yes there are fans of every housemate on the tibb staff team

The thread in question was closed because of blatant transphobia. I don't know if you read the thread that Dezzy posted on this matter or not. But basically, we dont allow prejudiced comments/jokes on this forum. Which I felt that thread was. Hence calling it disgusting. I don't think many would disagree that is was in bad taste.

People can slag off mods favorites until they are blue in the face, and nothing will be done. Unless the comments in question are over the top (such as wishing harm to come to housemates, something else that has been on the rise recently) or discriminative.

Fancy editing your language there ja$e? or there will probably be another coming your way in a minute :/

Some words are deemed unacceptable on the forum...to be used in the sense that you just did anyways, as most of you know
