Default 10 years is not that long....

Everyone says 'oh it's been on 10 years now, time for it to end'

Really, that is not very long. Especially for a show that is only on once a year.

Big Brother US has been going on for 10 years now as well and it's showing no signs of ending as ratings are highest in years.

Survivor has been on for 10 years now and it airs twice a year and is on it's 22nd season.

The Real World has been on for 17 years.

Those are just a few main examples. Why should Big Brother end after only 10 years? Why are people getting tired of it?

The main reason why, I think, is because it is over publicized. I think newspapers and media and all that get sick of talking about the same thing for over 10 years. In the end, I think the media is what has ended Big Brother. People began to go on just looking for fame and magazine deals. It became too celebrity obsessed. People probably got sick of hearing about it in the newspapers.

That's what appears to be the case to me, because 11 seasons is really not that long. And I don't think it's time for Big Brother to end yet.

This is the uk though.

A much smaller population. You literally couldnt get away from BB coz it was on every newspaper.

Theres only so many people who are going to stick with a show for so long.

Our countries attitude changed towards BB and people became very snobbish over it.

Do you think if it wasn't so over publicized with contestants seeking fame after the show, it would still be going on?

Sure Smaller than USA

But our London Area has more people than the Whole of Down Under.

The problem is we now have so many channels
so the amount that watched back in the early times
can not be reached as easy.

Its folks that Love It or Hate It
and some that Dip in from time to time.

I think Ch5 can give Big Brother a Fresh start.

Big Brother Brazil has also been going on for 10 years, the producer already said it will be aired for at least more 6 years. The interesting thing is that people's interested on Big Brother is bigger now than it used to be. Last year's finale had over 165 million votes. And a eviction with two very boring housemates has at least 30 million. The share is at least 50% as well. So yeah, 10 years isnt that much, but i think the problem is Big Brother is a show that is supposed to be on air for a short period of time every year, so people will miss it and watch it again next year. But in the uk, its 3 months the ordinary season, plus one month the celebrity one, equals 4 months, which is 1/3 of an year, what in my opinion is way too much

You can not change the UK Press
they want the Dirt and they get it.

Even Yanks get angry at our papers.

It's getting cancelled because BB and the UK can't handle a little controversy, B4 was a massive hit for the series and BB8 onwards has flat out been sh!t.

It started to go downhill when they stopped using 'normal' people and the contestants realised that they could get famous, get in magazines and really make something out of it.

If we just had a show where, 12 'normal' people went into a house for 10 weeks, it went back to basics with no contact (except for maybe a letter) with the outside world, no messing around with nominations, the housemates went back to their previous lives afterwards, I think we'd still have a good show.

You really shouldn't throw numbers around without context. In Brazil you can vote multiply times for free over the internet so it really is no surprise it has so many votes.

Yes, but you cant deny the people's enormous interest in the show with a share of 50%.

It's not even that much in the media anymore though.
BB9 was the last year the newspapers got heavily involved.

After that you wouldn't even know BB Existed.

People just hate it because they are wankers that won't give it a chance, I'm talking about people like in school.

I think BBUSA is a completely different thing, the reason it gets good ratings in the USA is obviously because American is far bigger and American's like all the game playing, so do I personally but if you brought that to the UK people would bomb the house or something because there is someone that wants to win in there

I've always thought that to be very strange, an english housemate would never be playing a "good game" by saying he wants to win, instead he'll have a lot of sympathy from most of viewers if he says he just wants to have a laugh and went in there for the experience

Big Brother divided the housemates into five cliques of three: Sarados (the Fit), Belos (the Beautiful), Cabeças (the Nerds), Ligados (the Tunned) and Coloridos (the Colorful/Gays).

BB Brasil FTW!

I've noticed when we have American housemates it's a lot more tactical, Big Brother should be re-named in America because it's a different game but as always they change everything to stand out just like our ****ing language

The gameplayers here ( Brazil ) are the responsible for people watching it, and different from BBUS where the housemates decide who is evicted, here, the housemates hate the gameplayers, the gameplayers go up for eviction, they are saved by the public, and then win it. People here are very honest about nominating other housemates to test their popularity and etc. John James and Josie would had been both up for eviction as soon as the housemates realized they were a couple, getting "their" possible airtime etc etc etc
