Well nature did make men physically stronger for a reason. They were intended to be the hunters and providers. Women the nurturers and home-makers.

Of course, we've deviated from that to some extent but the generalisation is still very much there. You don't see many women in physical labour jobs like construction for example.

And in terms of abuse the legal system will certainly take a man hitting a woman far more seriously than vice versa. Purely because men are deemed physically stronger and capable of more damage.

So the physical difference does come into play in all aspects of life. And you certainly still hear many women talking about wanting a big guy who can protect them!
